`Turkish government is responsible for finding Syrian journalist's killer`

After the killing of  journalist Dr. Oruoba Barakat and her daughter in Syria, Syrian journalists, seeking asylum abroad, published a statement. In his statement, Matar emphasized Turkey's comprehensive role in providing safety for Syrian journalists and all other Syrian refugees. Stating that the Turkish Government simply condemning the killings merely falls short, he added "Turkey's role shouldn't be to simply condemn the killings but to find the killers and bring them to justice.

`Stop killing the Syrian journalists

The assassination of Syrian journalist Dr. Oruoba Barakat and her daughter, journalist Hala Barakat, which recently took place in Istanbul , is a heinous crime, a reprehensible and condemned act of terrorism. The killers must be identified, tried and arrested. 

We call Turkey to take effective measures to protect Syrian and all journalists and writers of any threat to their freedom and lives.

Also, we call on the specialized international community organizations, to take serious and effective measures to protect Syrian writers and journalists and provide safe havens for them and their families.`

Matar, has invited the international press and human rights organizations to follow the incident.
