Milka is the dog, he took a refuge into Canada from Turkey

A Kurdish family took a refuge in Canada because of the political oppression. D. N, a journalist, brought a dog named Milka with his family to Canada.  When the family started their asylum procedures in June 9 2018, Milka the dog was at the outside of the police station. After a while with the insistence of the family, police let the dog in. Thus, Milka became the first dog who took a refuge into Canada from Turkey.

Because of repression against opponents of Erdogan's regime in Turkey, Kurdish politicians thrown in jail, many villages and the town  in the east was declared the curfew.

The family that seeks asylum in Canada claimed a genocide against the Kurds and the opposition in Turkey and Kurdish politicians and journalists were arrested. Milka became the first dog asylum seeker from Turkey.

Milka has some strong reasons for asylum

A police K9 named Vahim searched three trucks that belongs to the Turkish Intellegence in Turkey upon notification from the Adana Chief Public Prosecutor has been layed off from duty and exiled to another city. Vahim the dog has been punished by layed of from duty because of finding an illegal weapon traffic to Syria that made by Turkish Intellegence. Soldiers and prosecutors at the same investigation was detained too.

One month old dog's feet were cut off and left in the middle of the street

Last week a month old dog has been found without paws and tail and taken to the Istanbul in order to rapid surgical. 

Unfortunately, little puppy could not make it until to surgery.

Recently, the violence against humans as well as animals became widespread in Turkey.

For Milka, who took refuge in Canada, these hazards were gone.
